Colefax and Fowler is now best known for its internationally retailed range
of fabrics and wallpapers, but a busy decorating and antiques business has
flourished at its headquarters in London since the 1930’s. The showrooms -
which are open not just to the company’s own decorating clients but to
anyone looking for antiques – are in a wonderful 18th century town house
just off Bond Street and are themselves worth seeing: some people say they
come just for inspiration.
The serious shopper can choose from a large and
constantly changing selection of antiques: everything from large cabinet
pieces to small items of china, including pictures, mirrors and lamps. The
